BRYNSIENCYN - AREA of WOODLAND (Clockwise direction)
Turn right out of the car park and follow the lane downhill towards
St. Nidan’s church.
There is a tumulus well hidden in a field on the right on the way down. Can you spot it? A little further turn right onto the public footpath across a field. Bear towards the top right-hand corner of the field when approaching the wood and go through the little gate. Then walk through the wood, through a cleared area and go over a stile in the wall in the left-hand corner.
AREA of WOODLAND - MERMAID INN
With the wall on your left walk across the next two fields. Then walk across the middle of a field keeping parallel with the straits on your left. Cross a track, pass through the next field, go through the little gate and cross the next field then over a stile by the Scots Pine trees onto the shore. Turn right and you will then join the road, follow it keeping on the same line down the straits. You will go past the
Sea Zoo
shortly. You may take the public footpath that goes off right here as a short alternative to the walk.
When on Nidan’s walk you have the option of catching the number 42 bus from
Anglesey Sea Zoo
to
Llangefni
,
Bangor
, or either of these back to
Brynsiencyn
village!
SHORT CUT
Turn right up the field alongside the
Sea Zoo
driveway. There is a wooden stile into the car park area, go over it and turn left over another stile back into the field. Walk across this field, go through the kissing gate and across the next two fields. You will come to some solid stone steps over the wall into the lane by
Cerrig y Barcud farm
. You can then follow the walk description

To follow the full length walk carry on along the road. You will have a splendid view of
Caernarfon Castle
across the straits along this stretch of the walk. The road ends at the
Mermaid Inn
.
MERMAID INN - CERRIG Y BARCUD FARM
Keep going past the
Mermaid Inn
making your way over the pebbles on the shore. When you are about opposite
Caernarfon castle
a footpath leads off right, next to a ruined cottage on the shoreline. Take this path straight up the next two fields until you come to
‘Cae Mawr’ farm
. Turn right, go through the kissing gate at the top of the drive and along the track around the back of the outbuildings. Go through a gate then bear right towards a stile. Keeping the hedge on your left follow it for two fields. Then bear right along the hedge in front of you and go over a stile into the next field with the hedge now on your right. Walk straight across this field into the next large field and follow the visible track down to the farm

CERRIG Y BARCUD FARM - BRYNSIENCYN
Turn left onto the road and just before
‘Fron Heulog’
farm turn right down another lane. Go down this tree lined lane past a house. At a corner where the road bears left the public footpath goes right, through the gate, then left over a stile into a large field. Follow the hedge on your left to a gate that leads out through a small field down to the farm
‘Tyddyn Albert’
. Cross the drive through the kissing gates and bear right going around the back of the house. Pass through the kissing gate here, turn left and follow the hedge to the next gate. You will pass through two small fields to come out into a lane. Turn left then almost immediately right. This road leads you into the back of
Brynsiencyn
. When you join the main road turn right and go through the village and you will find yourself outside the
‘Groeslon’
pub, opposite the Car Park where you started.
