Coarse fish

Many of the still watercourse fisheries on Anglesey are rich and abundant in the variety of coarse fish species they hold. Some are regarded as native to the island, such as rudd and three-spined sticklebacks. Over the years, the stock of rudd has been enhanced with a wide variety of coarse fish ideally suited to Anglesey's temperate climate.

Many of the larger lakes produce specimen fish such as the roach and bream of Llyn Maelog , the perch of Llyn Coron , and the rudd of Llyn Alaw .

There are an increasing number of smaller coarse fisheries which hold stocks of quality tench, carp, and, in one case, catfish. These fisheries, of 1-3 acres, can be found scattered across the island, some being open to the public, while others are in private hands or on reserves.
