Llyn Maelog

Description

This lake is situated on the island's west coast, and boasts some excellent fishing. But it is imperative that permission is obtained from the various landowners whose properties border the lake before fishing is undertaken. They are generally receptive to reasonable requests for fishing in the lake, but permission has to be sought and granted in advance of fishing taking place.

The large lake contains various species, such as bream, rudd, roach, perch and eels. Many anglers believe the fishing here to be some of the best on the island. There is a footpath around the perimeter of the lake and the area is protected as far as wildlife and the environment is concerned.

Various watersport activities also take place on the lake.

Directions

Along the A5, turn left after Gwalchmai onto the A4080 to Rhosneigr. Follow the signs towards Rhosneigr and the lake is situated on the right as you approach the village.
