Llyn Alaw

Description

Measuring 777 acres, this is easily Anglesey's largest lake. You will find large trout here, both rainbow and brown. 13,500 trout are stocked annually, as well as at least 60 over-5 pounders.

Directions

Signposted from the A5, B5109, B5112, B5111. Along the A5 until you come to a signpost directing you to turn right towards Llannerchymedd/Trefor. Along that road until you reach a crossroads. Turn left and take the next right following the brown signs until you reach the end of the road. Turn right following the road and another right at the next brown sign. Follow that road to Llyn Alaw.

Season from 16 March to 26 October (rainbow trout) and 20 March to 17 October (brown trout).

Full season: £340. Concession: £275.

Full week: £55.00. Concession: £42.50.

Full day: £10.50. Evening: £8.50. Concession: £8.50.

Permits and Restrictions

Fly, spinner and worm only. No sweetcorn or groundbait of any kind, and no maggots. One rod only per permit.

Catch limits

Six fish per permit. Season permits 250 fish per season.

Additional information

Car parking 50-100 metres from lakeside. Some parking on lake edge.

Boats available:

Good facilities for disabled anglers, which includes a special boat.

Fishing tackle shop as of 1997.
