Press release 27 July 1998 Amlwch Vikings seen in Arizona! The events at Amlwchs Viking Festival over the weekend have been recorded for the world to see. The Festivals website now contains 28 pictures of Saturdays "battle" and other attractions, to give people who werent there some idea of the excitement, and to whet peoples appetite for the next Viking Festival in the year 2000. The pictures were taken with a digital camera on the day, and transferred to the website that evening. "The Web lends itself to this sort of thing perhaps in the year 2000 well have a live camera putting pictures onto the Web!", said Kevin Donnelly, of Menter Môn. Gerallt Llewelyn Jones, Manager of Menter Môn, feels there is scope for using the Web to help build up the tourist potential of the island: "Pictures are the next best thing to being there, and if we can provide some coverage of the large number of events that go on each year on the island, perhaps that may reassure potential visitors that there will be plenty for them to do and see. Menternet is a resource that every community should consider making use of." Menternet, Menter Môns community telematics project, allows all small businesses and community groups on the island to put information about themselves, their products, and their activities on the Web. If you have an event that you would like broadcast to the world via the Internet, contact Menter Môn on . Notes for editors:
