Mae croeso cynnes i chi yma. In the heartland of Anglesey relax and enjoy the wonderful panoramic views of the countryside and the Snowdonia Mountain Range at 'Drws Y Coed', meaning 'Door of the Wood'. We are a Welsh speaking family, running a 500 acre farm of beef cattle, sheep and cereal crops. It is situated in peaceful wooded countryside and is approached by two tarmac driveways, one of which is tree lined and in springtime is lined with daffodils, wild flowers and rhododendrons. An ideal touring base for all the island's 125 miles of coastline. Anglesey has many unspoilt sandy beaches some exposed to the rolling Irish Sea breakers, ideal for surfing, whilst others are more sheltered and are safe for children of all ages. Three miles away is the picturesque Bodafon Mountain , a pleasant place for picnics, walks and fishing , the Anglesey Heritage Centre at Llangefni, Parys Copper Mine near Amlwch and Din Lligwy, an ancient settlement close to Moelfre. Centrally situated for sailing , golfing , riding, birdwatching and leisure centres. The Irish ferry port at Holyhead is 25 minutes away, and Snowdonia National Park is about a 30 minute journey. Jane ensures a warm Welsh welcome into her beautifully appointed farmhouse which she has furnished to the highest standards. Tastefully decorated and furnished en-suite bedrooms with spacious bathrooms. They are most comfortable with television, clock radio, tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer and central heating. Double, twin and family bedrooms are available.
An inviting spacious lounge to relax in with log fire, books, boardgames, television and video. An outbuilding houses a snooker table and table tennis. There is a reputation for excellent home cooked meals, which are served in the cosy dining room, with separate tables. Sample a taste of Wales using farm and local produce including home made soups, traditional roasts and delicious deserts. Special diets are catered for. There are other eating places nearby.
We have a full fire certificate and are a non smoking establishment. The old manor house, Llwydiarth Esgob, with its unusual tall chimneys, dominates the old farmyard as it has done over the centuries. The traditional farm buildings have been preserved and visitors are welcome to wander around to see the cowsheds, grain stores, stables and smithy with its working bellows and original anvil.
There are lovely private walks, where wildlife and farm animals are to be seen. Jane enjoys providing a relaxed, clean and comfortable home from home atmosphere, for a quiet country holiday. Perhaps that is why so many of her guests return to visit Drws Y Coed.
