We do hope you thoroughly enjoy your stay here, and find the Isle of Anglesey and North Wales an interesting and attractive holiday destination. The rules of the house here are very simple -
Deri Isaf (translated means Lower Oaks - much of this part of the island was an oak forest originally) was built in the 1880's from brick produced at the local works down on the bay. It was originally built as a dowager house for the aristocracy. The Neave family owned a large estate - the Llys Dulas Estate - covering much of this part of Anglesey and had a large mansion house overlooking the bay. In those days, when 'Sir' died and the son took over the family title and home, the mother had to be suitably accommodated - so Deri was actually built as a Victorian 'granny flat' on the estate! The Neaves sold the Estate in 1953 and moved to Ireland Since those days it has had a varied life, being used as a Country Sporting Lodge - but we have had difficulty finding out details of exactly what 'Sport' took place here! In later years it was used as a farm house, then a private family home until we took it on in 1987 - in a somewhat neglected state to put it mildly.
We have 23 acres of land here, within an
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
, and you are welcome to roam as you wish - no dangerous animals - just friendly horses, shy sheep and two dogs named Bramble and Cadi, who will accompany you on a walk if given half the chance! The house has the added attraction of superb coastal views over the Dulas Bay area and surrounding open countryside with many lovely beaches and coves which can be found just minutes away. Other local sporting and leisure activities include a sports centre with swimming pool,
golf course
,
fishing
, water sports, footpaths,
cycle routes
and riding.
A warm Welsh / Scottish welcome is very much assured at Deri Isaf where the emphasis is on making your stay as pleasurable as possible in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. All rooms are beautifully furnished in traditional style. Bedrooms (including one with a four-poster bed) are all en-suite with colour television and video, separate dining room, central heating, outside play area and extensive gardens where nature and bird life abound.

Follow this road for some 12 miles, look out for a pub called The Pilot Boat on your right (going down the hill), then Dulas Bay Caravan and Boat centre; half a mile further on, turn left at minor cross roads (between small farmhouse and bungalow). Deri Isaf is a further half a mile on the left at junction (name on post). |
