As a Base

Beaumaris is a great base for exploring the rest of Anglesey and the mainland of Snowdonia. By taking advantage of its excellent accommodation and dining facilities you have your days free to roam at will. The island of Anglesey is peppered with historical attractions dating from prehistoric times onwards, providing a microcosm of European history and the local Celtic heritage, many ancient burial mounds can still be seen. As the main thoroughfare from the UK to Ireland, Anglesey is also much frequented by modern day families attracted by its coastline and beaches and also its enviable range of family attractions.

These include animal and sea life centres, as well as a working windmill where you can watch the miller produce sacks of flour. With a miniature village, a dinosaur centre and plenty of outdoor activities Anglesey has something to offer the whole family, rain or shine. Our mild Gulf Stream influenced climate makes Beaumaris an all year round venue.

There are a number of artists and craft workers on the island, and some of their work is displayed at the art and permanent history gallery at Oriel Mon, in the busy market town of Llangefni. Here also is the remarkable Tunicliffe collection of bird life paintings and sketches. The heart of Snowdonia is less than an hour's drive from Beaumaris.

There are excellent day-trips to Dublin on offer on the fast ferry from Holyhead.
