N E W S Moelfre Community Project in partnership with Age Concern Gwynedd and Ynys Môn involving Ynys Môn County Council incorporating Moelfre over 50's Club, Indoor Bowling Club, Hafan Day Care and Luncheon Club, Moelfre Homework Club have been awarded a prestigious British Award. One of two winners throughout Britain they have been awarded the Bura - Best Practice in Community Regeneration for their community work in the village during the last 15 months. At the award ceremony, a cheque for £1500, and a certificate for best practice was presented to the group representing the project at the House of Lords recently by Lord Hunt of the Wirral. Two new developments imminent within the project are the establishing of Moelfre Art and Play, giving art opportunities for children and young people, as well as establishing creative links between the school and the community, and a Computer Club giving access for adults and parents of school children to computers.
It is a tremendous achievement and shows the possibility for other communities who wish to consult and implement aspects of positive community development.
