We now have the ‘Funder Finder’ programme on our computer, which contains information on a wide variety of funders suitable for most voluntary organisations. Appeals on the BBC

BBC Wales are offering a chance for registered charities to broadcast an appeal on 2 radio programmes. Every month Live Time on Radio Wales and Hywel Gwynfryn’s programme on Radio Cymru will broadcast an appeal by a specific charity.

The aim of this service, which is free of charge, is to give charities publicity, by raising their profile and appealing for donations. There will also be an opportunity for 2 televised appeals to be made on BBC Wales each year.

Computers in the Community

Building Society Share-outs

If your organisation or charity has a building society account held in the name of a specific person, and that person also holds a personal account, only one application for shares is allowed if the society elects to become a bank. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lottery Applications

For an application pack for the fifth round of the lottery, you must contact the National Lottery Charities Board by 5.00pm on the 5 September 1997. Completed applications must be returned by 5.00pm on Friday 3 October 1997. For a Welsh Application pack phone , for an English pack phone .

The Arts

The Voluntary Arts Network (VAN) has produced 8 guidebooks dealing with lottery applications from arts organisations. Copies can be seen at our office in Llangefni.

Volunteering

The Department of Education and Employment has produced a booklet regarding Volunteering and the Job Seekers Allowance, it highlights the advantages of volunteering for the unemployed. Value Added Tax (VAT)

It is possible to reclaim VAT on development work carried out on Village Halls if the hall is used by the whole community or a number of local groups. For further information contact Mr Paylin on .

Barclays bank are offering help to local organisations and registered charities to develop their annual accounts.
