Late News: CHARITIES BOARD ISSUE FUNDING WARNING The Charities Board in Wales is issuing a warning to voluntary groups to prepare realistically for their future. This year there will be less money for the Charities Board in the UK as a whole so Wales will also receive less money. The money for SMALL GRANTS will be protected, the shortage will be felt in the main grants allocation which will be reduced by £3.5 million to £18.5 million. Roy Norris - Director of the Charities Board in Wales explained "We want people to understand that we have a limited amount of money and that hard decisions have to be made. To small organisations we can say that SMALL GRANTS funds should be enough to meet demand. Most of our main grants will go to new initiatives within the community. It does worry us that groups seeking follow-on funding may depend on us too much, especially if other funding options fail. There will be strong competition for limited funds, that is why I want to warn groups to plan carefully and realistically for the future". Groups seeking application forms from the Charities Board grants or further information should call or contact Mari or Derlwyn at the office on .
