Volunteering Festival during National Volunteers Week June 1st – 7th 2000

Plans for next June’s Volunteering Festival are starting to take shape in the form of a giant jigsaw map of Wales which will be the centrepiece of the Volunteering Festival.
Students from a range of departments at Ystrad Mynach FE College have begun work on the map which is expected to be completed by the end of February.
The jigsaw map will be used throughout the Festival both for national and local events.
Already across Wales, ideas and plans for events are being hatched to take advantage of the map as a focal point for local community and volunteer activities. Exciting ideas for embellishing the individual jigsaw pieces with distinctive designs and motifs are also being discussed which reflect the character of volunteering in each locality.
Each jigsaw piece will represent the constituency of a Welsh Assembly Member and it is hoped to invite each AM to take advantage of this opportunity to join in the festivities and get to know more volunteers and community projects in the locality.
It is also hoped that each jigsaw piece will be transported by ‘sustainable transport’ to Cardiff for the Festival finale. Cyclists who might like to take part will be very welcome!
Local plans for the Volunteering Festival on Anglesey are being co-ordinated by Ynys Môn Volunteer Bureau. If you are interested in getting your volunteering events linked to this important Festival, please ring the Ynys Mon Volunteer Bureau on
01248 – 724944 for an application form.
