Wern is a lovely old farmhouse set in more than 259 acres of countryside. We, the owners, Peter and Linda Brayshaw, have lived here for over 27 years and are very happy indeed to be able to share our home with others who want to enjoy a peaceful holiday in lovely surroundings.

The house itself dates back to approximately 1600 when it was built as a simple two up, two down with outside facilities!! Over the centuries, generations of farmers have added extra rooms (presumably to accommodate growing families) and the house now has 20 rooms and two staircases in all. The most recent addition is the Victorian style conservatory which was built in 1991.

Although the house is very old, the facilities offered are not. The three bedrooms have all the "comforts" of the present day, having either an en suite shower, toilet and wash basin, or a private bathroom with a shower and whirlpool bath next door to the bedroom. A choice of toiletries is also provided for guests. Each room is equipped with a colour television, tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and a selection of books and magazines. For our youngest visitors, a cot and high chair can be provided.

A traditional farmhouse breakfast is served in the conservatory, where guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the Snowdonia range of mountains. The conservatory opens out into the lovely landscaped gardens. a perfect place for a stroll after breakfast, or to sit quietly by the pond. A summer house provides a comfortable shelter from the breeze and the opportunity to watch the wildlife in and around the pond from a 'discrete' distance.

For those who want a more active holiday, an all-weather tennis court provides ample opportunity for exercise, and games such as Boules are available on request. There is also plenty of room in the garden for football and cricket!!

If the weather is inclement, there is also an antique three-quarter size billiard/snooker table, and in the sitting room there is a TV, video and a range of jigsaws or board games to play in front of the log fire.

From the moment that guests arrive at Wern, they are made to feel welcome. A complementary Welsh tea is served in the conservatory.

Although an evening meal is not provided, there are more than thirty eating places within a few miles of Wern, with prices to suit every pocket. A folder of sample menus from some of these establishments is provided for the use of guests, and bookings may be made in advance.

To assist with holiday planning a selection of brochures, books and maps describing local places of interest is available. We are also very willing to offer our advice if it is requested.

A wealth of scenic beauty, historic sites and miles of sandy beaches lay within a very short drive of Wern. As we are situated just a mile and a half from the two impressive bridges, built in the 1800's, which join the Isle of Anglesey to mainland Gwynedd, visitors to Wern can enjoy the attractions of both sides of the Menai Straits without having to drive very far.

The closest town is Menai Bridge, the "gateway to Anglesey", which boasts splendid views across the Straits, pleasant walks, historic sites, art galleries, antique shops and restaurants and bowling green. Also close to Wern are the small towns of Beaumaris (3miles) and Llanfairpwllgwyngyll (2 miles) where visitors can enjoy historic buildings, good shopping and a range of activities to suit all ages. For those who wish to venture a little further, Snowdonia, Caernarfon and Llanberis are only twenty minutes away. To the East, Llandudno and the Conwy Valley are less than half an hour away.
